Art in Flight: SPAZIOTEMPO at Pergine Castle
Music, art, and flight: the event that preceded “SPAZIOTEMPO.” In recent weeks, a captivating artistic performance welcomed the works of “SPAZIOTEMPO,” blending choral music with the flight of a helicopter. The Te Deum, performed by the Castel Pergine Choir, intertwined with the sound of the helicopter blades, transforming a logistical operation into a solemn and spectacular event. The citizens of Pergine looked up to the sky above the castle hill, admiring the art pieces flown in. The monumental sculpture exhibition “SPAZIOTEMPO” by Francesco Panceri, organized by the Castel Pergine Foundation and curated by Dora Bulart, will be inaugurated on May 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM. The event will feature the artist, the curator, and local authorities, along with a contemporary musical performance, “Notte,” by Pietro Perelli. Pietro Perelli, an Italian drummer and percussionist, is a Sound Explorer and unconventional composer. His style ranges from free improvisation to film scores, from cinematic sounds to a shamanic soundscape. His musical journey, developed through tours in the United States, Europe, Africa, and India, led him to settle in Los Angeles, where he has collaborated with renowned international artists like Glen Hansard, Eddie Vedder, Dana Fuchs, Vinicio Capossela, Andrea Bocelli, Emma Morton, Luke Winslow King, and many others. “Notte” is a concert Perelli performs exclusively in unique locations, providing the ideal setting for an experience that transcends the boundaries of music, approaching the realm of ritual. A timeless percussion performance where drums and nature sound samples engage with the surrounding space, creating a unique and immersive rhythmic journey.
During the exhibition, there will be in-depth discussions on the themes of space and time, with roundtables involving artists, architects, philosophers, and historians.

Paola Favero, a forest guard and writer, author of several books related to the mountain, and an expert in environmental education, will present her latest book, “Losing Balance: A Journey through the Imbalances of the Anthropocene.” In this book, she explores the very current theme of imbalance, which can have unpredictable consequences not only for individuals but also for ecosystems and society. The book delves into the Anthropocene era, examining environmental, economic, and social imbalances, from climate crises to food and energy production, as well as information and health management. Through concrete experiences and expert contributions, the author paints a picture of a chaotic reality where the speed of change generates instability and disharmony.

For a millennium, Pergine Castle has told about itself and those who have lived there or stopped there. From its ancient stones emanates today a poetics that enchants and reveals the long life on the hill, the one that was consumed within the very long and somewhat shabby walls, in the splendid halls or around the medieval hearth, in the gardens and in the fascinating towers , between the humble and the powerful.
Restorations
We have started a substantial restoration program of Pergine Castle.
In 2022 we relocated the altar complex to the Chapel of St. Andrew and concluded, thanks to a generous private donation, the conservative intervention on the fresco of the Madonna Tower.
In 2023 work on the north-east walls, on the Torrione di Massimiliano and on the Torre della Madonna.
Once the scaffolding was removed from the Torrione di Massimiliano in October, cleaning and conservation interventions revealed the good condition of the original 16th century plaster and highlighted the sanguine decoration of fake stone ashlars, characteristic of the period.
